Rhythmbox allows and promotes trade-based radio stations, those who want users' attention in return for letting them listen to their radio stations. However, Rhythmbox is more than that, it is a music player that can be used to listen to local music.

Rhythmbox este o aplicație de gestionare a muzicii, concepută să funcționeze bine sub desktopul GNOME. În plus față de muzica stocată pe computer, acceptă partajări în rețea, podcasturi, fluxuri radio, dispozitive muzicale portabile (inclusiv telefoane) și servicii muzicale pe internet, cum ar fi Last.fm și Magnatune.
